The Google Looker Studio data sources now include Search Intents

The Keyword Ranking Date Comparison data source in AWR now includes search intents, helping you understand user intent behind each keyword.

The Keyword Ranking Date Comparison data source (check sample) from Advanced Web Ranking now includes the search intents behind each keyword.

By combining search intent data with keyword rankings, you can create more targeted Looker Studio reports, leading to a holistic view of your SEO performance, improved decision-making, and refined content and marketing strategies that align with user intent.

The following search intent metrics are now available in the data source:

  • Search Intent

  • Previous Search Intent

  • Secondary Search Intent

  • Previous Secondary Search Intent

For data sources created following this rollout, the search intent metrics will be automatically included in the “Keyword Ranking Date Comparison” report type.

For data sources created before this rollout and currently, in use in Looker Studio reports, you will need to create a new data source from the AWR UI and add this new data source to your Looker Studio report to apply the latest changes. Here are the steps to do so:

1. Create a new Keyword Ranking Date Comparison data source in AWR:

Open your AWR account and navigate to the Settings > Connectors and API section Then click the Google Looker Studio button.

In the newly opened wizard, enter your API key and select Keyword Ranking Date Comparison from the report type dropdown menu, then click Next.

Configure the data source by selecting the desired project and parameters. Once done, click the Connect button in the top right corner.

2. Add the newly created Keyword Ranking Date Comparison data source to your Looker Studio report:

  • Open Looker Studio and navigate to the report that is using the Keyword Ranking Date Comparison data source.

  • Click on the table where the data source is being used.

  • From the setup menu, you can replace the data source in use from the "Data source" drop-down menu.

  • Look for the new data source you just created and select it.
