Whenever adding new keywords or changing the "Country" setting, the AdWords metrics - Searches, CPC and Competition - are automatically updated in the background within 72h, independently from the ranking update. 

These 2 data gathering processes are separate, and only the ranking delivery time can be influenced from user end.
